How to store filaments

Humidity and UV light can decrease the filament quality and weaken its mechanical properties. We strongly recommend storing open filaments in a dry and dark place. You can find a complete guide on how to properly store your filament here

Where to throw print fails and supports?

We kindly ask our customers to cope with plastic waste responsibly. Failed prints, support material, rafts, or brims should be liquidated according to the local guidelines. Paradoxically, in most cases, it is better to throw this waste in the regular trash can, as most of the material waste created in 3D printing is not identified, which causes more problems than benefits in the waste sorting facilities.

PETG Basic | Bambu Lab

Bambu Lab PETG Basic has been upgraded to deliver PLA-level strength while keeping the toughness PETG is known for. It is ideal for structural and functional parts that need to handle more stress without losing flexibility.

With enhanced resistance to water, UV and temperature it is a great choice for outdoor accessories, functional tools and everyday-use models. The refined formula reduces stringing and gives smoother surfaces, so you get the advantages of PETG with fewer compromises.

  • PLA-level strength with PETG toughness
  • Resistant to water, UV and higher temperatures
  • Reduced stringing, smooth surface finish
  • Diameter 1.75 mm ± 0.03 mm
  • RFID spool, compatible with AMS, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT and AMS lite

Recommended settings: nozzle 230–260 °C, bed 65–75 °C (Cool Plate SuperTack, Textured PEI or Smooth PEI Plate with glue), cooling fan 0–60 %. Dry at 65 °C for 8 h before printing.

General information about PETG :

Printability of PETG filament

PETG is such a popular filament for a lot of reasons. It has a perfect interlayer adhesion without a heated chamber (which is often a problem compared, for instance, to ABS). Its flawless and continuous nozzle flow combined with zero warp makes it a perfect partner for long print jobs and for printing large objects without the need for a heated chamber. For those reasons, PETG is the bestselling material across the FDM 3D printing industry. Compared to PLA, PETG tends to string a little bit, a problem that can be easily fixed by tweaking your retraction settings.

PETG mechanical and thermal properties

PETG is the perfect combination of the mechanical goodness of ABS and the ease of printing of PLA. It is tougher than PLA, meaning that it doesn't crack as easily when under pressure. It also has improved impact resistance and thermal resistance of 73°C. Imagine the mechanical properties of a PET plastic bottle; that should give you a reasonable illustration of the strength of this material.

Tips and other notable benefits

Raw PETG is glossy, and so, if not explicitly specified otherwise in the short product description, the surface finish will be glossy. This property can be slightly tweaked by adjusting the cooling fan speed; the more you cool, the more matt will be the finished part. On the other hand, the less you cool the print, the stronger it will be.

PETG has such a wide range of applications, that for instance, it is highly probable that your 3D printer has parts printed from PETG. This material is odorless, and generally speaking, it is okay to use it in contact with food. (Although not every manufacturer provides a certificate for food compliance. Also, please note that for use in official applications you would need to re-certify it, more here). While printing with PETG, no toxic fumes or vapor are released like with ABS.

Bambu Lab

Bambu Lab filaments are the original materials developed together with Bambu Lab 3D printers such as the A1, P1 and X1 series. They are for anyone who wants plug-and-print results: every spool carries an RFID tag, so the AMS recognises the material and colour and loads the right print profile automatically. JustCreate3D keeps Bambu Lab filaments in stock in its warehouse in Senec, Slovakia, and dispatches orders quickly.

Bambu Lab is a consumer-tech company founded in 2020 in Shenzhen, China, by a team of engineers from the robotics and drone industry. Its X1, P1, A1 and H2 series made fast, reliable multi-colour 3D printing accessible to everyone.

Bambu Lab filaments at JustCreate3D

  • PLA Basic – the easiest material to start with and the everyday workhorse, designed for high-speed printing.
  • PETG Basic and PETG HF – tougher than PLA; PETG HF is optimised for high-speed printing, with less oozing and a uniform matte finish.
  • PETG-CF – PETG reinforced with carbon fibre for stiffer functional parts.
  • TPU 95A HF and TPU for AMS – flexible TPU; TPU for AMS is made to feed reliably through the AMS for multi-colour flexible prints.

Which Bambu Lab filament to choose?

Starting out on an A1 or A1 mini? Begin with PLA Basic. For parts that need more toughness or heat resistance, move to PETG Basic or PETG HF. Choose PETG-CF for stiff technical parts and print it with a hardened steel nozzle, because carbon fibre is abrasive. For flexible parts, pick TPU – and if you want to print it from the AMS, take TPU for AMS.

Frequently asked questions

Will the AMS recognise the filament automatically?

Yes. Bambu Lab spools carry an RFID tag that tells the AMS the exact material and colour, so the matching print profile is loaded without manual setup.

Can I print TPU from the AMS?

Standard flexible filaments are usually fed outside the AMS. Bambu Lab TPU for AMS was developed to feed reliably through the AMS, which makes multi-colour flexible prints possible.

Do I need to dry Bambu Lab filament?

Store spools dry. If a filament has absorbed moisture, dry it before printing – the recommended drying temperature and time for each material are listed in its product description.
