Resins

UV resins (photopolymers) are liquid materials for SLA, DLP and LCD (MSLA) 3D printers that cure layer by layer under UV light. They are the choice when you need very fine detail and smooth surfaces: miniatures, figurines, detailed models and functional prototypes. We stock resins from Monocure 3D and FormFutura in our warehouse in Senec, Slovakia, and dispatch orders fast.

General purpose: Monocure 3D Rapid Model resin, an easy-to-use epoxy-based system that gives a hard surface without brittleness, and FormFutura Platinum LCD Series for printers working at 385–420 nm. Mechanical: FormFutura Engineering SLA Heavy Duty (flexural strength up to 135 MPa, Tg up to 128 °C) and Tough, a transparent, impact-resistant and semi-flexible resin. Flexible: Monocure 3D FLEX100™, which can be printed alone or mixed with a hard resin to tune flexibility.

How to choose a resin

  • Printer wavelength – the resin must match your printer's light source. Our FormFutura resins are specified for 385–405 nm (Engineering series) or 385–420 nm (Platinum LCD Series), which covers most open LCD and DLP printers.
  • Purpose – for models, figurines and visual prototypes choose a general-purpose resin; for jigs, fixtures and functional parts an engineering resin; for compressible or bendable parts a flexible resin.
  • Exposure settings – start from the manufacturer's recommended layer times. For Rapid Model, Monocure 3D gives 1.5–3 s per layer on monochrome LCD printers and 5–6 s on colour LCD printers.
  • Post-processing – plan for washing and UV post-curing; under-cured parts stay tacky or may crack.
  • Colour – the Monocure 3D CMYK pigment set lets you mix your own colours for Monocure 3D resins.

Frequently asked questions

Will these resins work in my LCD or DLP printer?

Most open LCD, DLP and SLA printers that cure at 385–405 nm are compatible, and the Platinum LCD Series covers 385–420 nm. If your printer uses a closed cartridge system, check first whether it accepts third-party resins.

How do I handle liquid resin safely?

Work in a well-ventilated room, wear protective gloves and safety glasses and avoid skin contact with uncured resin. Keep bottles closed and away from sunlight, and dispose of resin-contaminated waste according to the safety data sheet of the product.

What should I clean resin prints with?

Isopropyl alcohol is widely used, but according to Monocure 3D it mainly dilutes the resin and saturates quickly. RESINAWAY® is a non-flammable cleaning solution developed for photopolymer resin. After cleaning, post-cure the part under UV light.

When should I replace the FEP film?

The FEP film at the bottom of the vat is the release layer and wears over time. Replace it when it is scratched, cloudy or punctured. We stock 200-micron FEP film in a pack of five sheets (195 × 135 mm) in spare parts.
